Meet Our People

Jack Costantino, President

Jack Costantino With an educational background in architecture, engineering and design, Jack's practical experience in carpentry and construction forms an effective synergy. In the building business since 1959, Jack started working for himself in 1968 when he opened Costantino Contracting Company in New York. He has spent virtually all of the last four decades in custom carpentry, remodeling and new construction. The company photos demonstrate experience with residential and commercial work of all dimensions. From kitchen and bath remodels to 20,000 square-foot homes and wedding banquet facilities, Jack has managed to touch many bases.

In 1973, Jack returned to school to study passive solar and alternative energy design. This led to the construction of highly specialized commercial and residential projects in Vermont, Mississippi and Pennsylvania where Jack participated in overall design as well as construction of hybrid energy-sensitive structures.

In his usual way, always interested in change and growth; Jack has turned his attention to the wonderful old world craftsmanship and craftsmen who design, fabricate and erect custom timber frame buildings. This interest in and appreciation for this wonderful building design and construction has resulted in the creation of Timber Frames Unlimited.

Jack is an active committee member for the timber frame industries national organizations including the Timber Frame Business Council and Timber Framers Guild. Active since 1975 in eco-sensitive construction, Jack is also a member of the Board of Editors for the New Jersey Chapter of the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) and writes their Green Schools newsletter column with a focus on early education. He believes "even a five-year-old can reach a light switch." To read Jack's USGBC-NJ Green School columns, back issues of the TFU newsletter and general commentaries with useful design and building information, visit the blog page.

With six children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson, life is full and he and his long-time partner and wife Evelyn are enjoying it all more than ever.

Meet our fabrication partners Jeff Davis and Rick Bascom of Davis Timber Frame Company

Jeff DavisRick BascomOver two decades ago, Jeff Davis and Rick Bascom, frame-wright and custom home builder respectively, realized they shared a common dream: to build the finest custom-designed timber frame homes. Together they formed the Davis Frame Company.

They started their shop in the 1800s timber frame barn at Rick’s family farm in Vermont, building homes, additions and commercial buildings for discriminating clients throughout New England. As the Davis Frame reputation and demand for their work grew, Jeff and Rick were able to expand the company by building a 22,000 square foot manufacturing and design facility in Claremont, New Hampshire. The new location allows the 20-member staff to be together in one place, enhancing their efficiency, creativity and ability to collaborate as a team.

Both dedicated artisans, Jeff and Rick have consistently attracted like-minded individuals to work with them who share the same ideals of quality, teamwork and an unrelenting passion for the trade. Many have observed that above all, a sense of loyalty defines the company: loyalty to an idea, an exceptional product, and an age-old craft. Every home by Davis Frame is both an expression of these values and a reflection of the owner’s desires.

Learning, growing and adapting over time has meant incorporating the latest technological advances in design and production, integrating more efficient building systems into home designs, and embracing new materials and technologies. As part of their drive to deliver the highest quality possible in all aspects of design, Jeff and Rick continually re-evaluate construction "best-practices" and provide on-going education for staff to ensure that they are creating not only beautiful structures, but smarter, healthier and more efficient buildings.

Jeff continues to be the driving force in the company with his passion for the trade, keeping the company's mission statement clearly in view, and getting personally involved in every project undertaken by Davis Frame.
